| Webmaster | Emmett Rahl | Emmett Rahl was born in Oakland, California, and lived in Piedmont, California, for 18 years.
From 1980 to 1986, Emmett sang with the San Francisco Boys Chorus and Piedmont Choirs, traveling with their Performing Groups. Some of his musical highlights include understudying for Amahl with the Oakland Opera, winning the Kathaumixw International Solo Competition in 1984, performing the National Anthem at the 1985 Superbowl, performing at the Newport Music Festival in Rhode Island, and working as a paid soloist for several local churches and other organizations. Emmett continued his singing "career" at UC Davis, as part of the Early Music Ensemble, when his voice dropped from Soprano to Alto (aka Countertenor). Emmett graduated from UC Davis in 1994, with a BA in German and a mini-minor in Chemistry. Emmett lived in worked in Davis for a further 4 years. Emmett moved to Long Beach in 1998, with the hope of finding his ideal job, but instead got involved in running. Since 1996, Emmett has run 21 marathons, 24 ultramarathons (anything longer than a marathon (including 6-50 mile races), and approximately 400 other distance races. He is attempting his first 100 kilometer trail race in May 2009. When not trying to update the Mensa website, Emmett edits A Running Experience Club newsletter, their website, the Hash House Harriers newsletter website, and tries to jumpstart a career in writing and technical writing. |
